Moonshine in the Trunk
Label: Arista Nashville
Despite reports that suggested Brad Paisley had "gone EDM," Moonshine in the Trunk is nearly a blips-and-beat-free zone. Sure, some songs feature electronics -- but not the kind to set Ibiza on fire. And this is a good thing! Equally fine is Paisley's penchant for singing about less familiar topics. At a time when songs about women in bikini tops crowd charts and playlists, Paisley offers "Shattered Glass" (a celebration of women breaking the glass ceiling). But it's not all business, either: "Gone Green," "Limes" and "High Life" are smartly written songs that highlight Paisley's wicked humor.
