Washington's awesome debut was a deserving crossover hit that changed the course of modern jazz. Soulful, hard-hitting and heartfelt, this superb album wasn't even supposed to be Grover's:he had stepped in for a missing Hank Crawford, and instantly became a star. Ain't that just like the movies?
