Red Sails In The Sunset
Label: SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT
The year 1984 was a king-making time for Midnight Oil, who, with the help of this LP, finally broke in with American and European audiences, winning airplay and increasingly high-profile headlining tours. By this time, the band had left its scrappy pub-pop days far behind, and the sound here has all the hallmarks of '80s rock: gated drums, tightly controlled sonics and a mysterious sheen. The album cuts are preachy and urgent, like "Sleep" and "Who Can Stand in the Way."
